33rd Panhellenic Congress of Paediatric Surgery within the 22nd European Congress of EUPSA

The 33rd Panhellenic Congress of Paediatric Surgery with International Participation was to take place in the fall of 2021. However, as all members of the Hellenic Society of Paediatric Surgeons already know, EUPSA has been persuaded after years of painstaking and persistent efforts to entrust our country with the organization of the 22nd European Congress. Following this, it is natural for the 33rd Panhellenic Congress to be combined with this world-renowned event, which will take place on September 1st – 4th, 2021 at the Zappeion Megaron in Athens under the patronage of Her Excellency the President of the Hellenic Republic Mrs. Aikaterini Sakellaropoulou (http://www.eupsa.info/welcome-to-athens/).

Those who are familiar with the global scientific events of Paediatric Surgery remember that a Congress of Paediatric Surgery of such importance has not been organized for the last 35 years in our country, except for the British Society of Paediatric Surgeons Congress (BAPS) in 1988 in Asteras Vouliagmenis and the Mediterranean Pediatric Surgery Congress (MAPS) in Corfu, the early 2000s.

A recent development concerning us was the application by the Executive Board of the Pediatric Colorectal Club to our country for the organization in Athens of the 28th Pediatric Colorectal Club Meeting, August 29th and 30th, 2021 (https://www.pccathens.com/), which brings together Paediatric Surgeons from around the world with a particular interest in colon and anorectal malformations. This event highlights the impact of Greek Paediatric Surgery in the global Paediatric Surgery Community and treats a special honor in our country. Note that the two previous Pediatric Colorectal Club Meetings were held in Tokyo, Japan in 2019, and New Delhi, India in 2020.

The Executive Board of the Hellenic Society of Paediatric Surgeons with a high awareness of the responsibility for the work undertaken invites all Greek Paediatric Surgeons and doctors of all related specialties, dealing with paediatric diseases, to assist with their total and active participation in the success of the upcoming Congress in September in Athens. This will be a harbinger of similar successes for the next generations of Greek Paediatric Surgeons.
